Clonal Colonies has been selected for screening at the Montréal Video Music Festival 2015, which will take place April 10-12, 2015 at the Espace Notre-Dame in Montréal, Canada.

Clonal Colonies: Co-First Prize in MuVi4

Clonal Colonies has received a Co-First Prize in the MuVi4 International Exhibition of Video and Moving Image on Synesthesia and Visual Music. Happily, the other first prize was awarded to my fellow University of Washington DMA alum Linda Antas, for her work All the Glitters and Goes Bump in the Night. The works will be presented at Teatro Martinez Montañéz, Alcalá la Real, Jaén, Spain, 16-19th May 2015, in association with the Fifth International Congress "Synaesthesia: Science & Art". A book and DVD will be released in association with the event.

Avoiding __psynch_mutexwait in glBegin

The following code in a Mac openFrameworks project was hanging occasionally when I controlled the point size via a slider box (graphic card = AMD FirePro D500):

glPointSize(scaledPointSize);
glBegin(GL_POINTS);

resulting in a hang in __psynch_mutexwait inside glBegin.
The hang doesn't arise as long as I don't let scaledPointSize exceed 30. So that is a fix — of sorts.

Clonal Colonies at ZKM Dec 10, 2014

Clonal Colonies, 1st Movement, will will be screened December 10th, 2014 at ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie), in Karlsruhe, Germany, as part of The Best of Punto y Raya 2014 programme.

Panel at Kinetica Art Fair, Sunday 19th October

I will be part of the ‘Creative Collider Conversation’ panel at the Kinetica Art Fair in London on Sunday, 19th October, 2014 — 2 pm. Organised by Threshold Studios and chaired by journalist Emily Gosling, the panel will discuss the challenge of adopting unfamiliar technologies and the implications of the relationship between artist and technologist.

Arte en el Siglo XXI - Seminario Rosario

Thanks to my virtual hosts, intrepid interpreter, and the lovely audience at the National University of Rosario, Santa Fé, Argentina, on September 10 — where I discussed and presented Sinus Aestum via the (still) magic of Skype.

Two Screenings in Glasgow in October

On October 1, 2014, Lacus Temporis will be screened as part of Soundlab Presents Edit-point, at Glasgow City Hall, 7:30 pm.

Clonal Colonies (both movements) will be appearing in the Glasgow Electronic and Audiovisual Media (GLEAM) festival at the University of Glasgow, running October 30 and 31. I will be attending and presenting a talk on the making of Clonal Colonies. More details TBA.
